He has written widely on the subject of Islamic Economics and has to his credit 12 books and monographs, 75 papers and 9 book reviews (list attached). The list does not include a number of newspaper articles written by him. His books and papers have been translated into many languages including Arabic, Bangla, French, German, Indonesian, Japanese, Malay, Persian, Polish, Spanish, Turkish and Urdu.


10. Professional Meetings


He has participated in a number of meetings of the IMF, IBRD, OPEC, IDB, OIC, GCC, AMF, and other international and regional organizations. He has also participated in several seminars and conferences on Islamic economics and finance held in different countries around the world.

 

11. Lectures


He has given several lectures or presented papers on different subjects in a number of countries, including Bahrain, Bangladesh, Egypt, Germany, India, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Morocco, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Turkey, UAE, UK, and USA.


12. Qur’ān Study Circles


He has delivered weekly lectures at Qur’ān study circles in Riyadh and Jeddah.


13. Planning and Organization


He has played a prominent role in the planning and organization of some important conferences and seminars in the field of Islamic Economics and Finance.

He has acted on the review committees of a number of seminars and given in-depth comments on preliminary drafts of papers, thus helping improve the quality of the papers presented at these seminars.


14. Award and Evaluation Committees


Has acted as member of a number of committees for evaluating the nominees for awards in Islamic Economics and Banking,  promotions to the ranks of associate and full professorship, or evaluation of theses for Master’s and Doctor’s degrees.

16. Help to Islamic Organizations


He has helped a number of Islamic organizations in their work related to Islamic Economics, particularly in designing teaching programmes, pre-publication reviews of books and papers and the holding of seminars and conferences. Prominent among these are: Imam Muhammad University, Riyadh; Islamic Research and Training Institute, IDB, Jeddah; Centre for Research in Islamic Economics, King Abdul Aziz University, Jeddah; the International Institute of Islamic Economics, Islamabad; the International Islamic University, Malaysia; the Islamic Foundation, Leicester, U.K.; Islamic Council of Europe, London; and the International  Institute of Islamic Thought, U.S.A.


17. Awards Received


a) Received gold medal from the University of Sind for standing first in the High School Examination in 1950 among 25,000 students.
 

b) Awarded a gold medal from the Memon Educational and Welfare Society for being one of the five most outstanding scholars of the Society.
 

c) Received an award for being recognized as one of the ten most outstanding students of the Government College of Commerce and Economics, Karachi, at the 40th anniversary of the College in February 1986.
 

d) Received the Islamic Development Bank award in 1989 in recognition of his contribution to Islamic Economics.
 

e) Received the King Faisal International Award in 1989 in recognition of his contribution to Islamic studies.


f) Received a gold medal in 1995 from the Institute of Overseas Pakistanis for his meritorious services to Islam and Islamic Economics.
